We wanted to help our son into his first property and wanted him to not move too far away from home.  This proved to be quite a challenge as there are only infill subdivided blocks available in nearby areas and most of them are on rear allotments. Our son was not very keen on such an arrangement and as such we had very limited options to select from.

Peter managed to find us a street fronted block in a lovely suburb however the shape of it was extremely odd.  Whilst it looks nothing like a starfish, it also looks nothing like any other block we had ever seen.  Even Peter said he had his fair share of challenges with its curved boundaries and multiple street frontages.  Peter explained that the design codes had not been created to deal with such a block and as such none of the rules applied in the usual way.  Our discussions with council had not been very fruitful, but Peter was able to negotiate an outcome that was based more on the intent of the law than the actual wording of it and as such we were able to unlock the potential in the site and create a beautiful design which we are very proud of. It takes advantage of the challenges presented by the site and turns them into a positive. The gorgeous visual of having all the living areas leading onto a spacious Alfresco with uninterrupted views, makes the home feel illuminated with abundance and light!

I still struggle to comprehend that, despite the multitude of challenges presented by the site, Pete's original pencil sketch remained more or less unchanged – I can only assume that he is the expert at how to get things through council!

Our son has just taken possession of the keys and can’t wait to move in!
